About this tool

The start and end of a recording often contain irrelevant content: microphone adjustments, sound checks, silence. Removing it is a preliminary step before any other use of the file, and doesn't require a full audio editor.

This tool doesn't re-encode the file: it copies the selected section directly into a new file of the same format. This makes the process instant regardless of the original duration, and the result keeps exactly the same quality as the source file.

Features

  • Direct copy instead of re-encoding: the result is instant and lossless.
  • The output format matches the input: MP3 with MP3, WAV with WAV.
  • Built-in player to locate the exact point by listening to the audio.
  • The file isn't uploaded to any server.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the audio

It plays in the built-in player so you can locate the exact point.

  2. 2

    Select the section

Adjust the two ends of the bar. The duration of the selection is shown.

  3. 3

    Download the section

Same format, same quality, shorter duration.

In detail

Why this tool copies instead of re-encoding

Most trimmers follow the same process: they decode the entire file, keep the selected section and compress it again. The result sounds slightly worse than the original, since a second compression always leaves a trace, and the process takes as long as the full file's duration requires.

This tool decodes nothing: it locates the starting point of the selected section, copies the data directly to the end, and writes it into a new file in the same format. That's why the result is instant even with two-hour recordings, and the section keeps exactly the same quality as the original file.

What you save by trimming before transcribing

Billing is calculated by the minute, and the first minutes of a meeting are usually people arriving, microphone adjustments and sound checks — time you pay for and then have to skip when reading the result.

Removing it before uploading costs nothing and is the most cost-effective step available. It also improves the result: the model doesn't have to process minutes of ambient noise, and the summary doesn't have to ignore them.
